Decorating our sons nursery I knew I wanted a neutral design with mixes of vintage and new art/decorations. There a couple of very special pieces in his nursery but I love this one.
Here’s what we started with, my husbands fishing lure collection from when he was a child (peep that 2nd place win) and a frame we picked up from an antique store.

I took everything out of the frame and cut some 1×2 pine boards to make a box inside the frame. Then I laid out all the lures to see how I wanted them arranged and how much space I would need between the rows. I had some spare dowel laying around so I used that to hang them off of. I drilled holes on each side of the 1×2 box and inserted the dowels with a little wood glue. My original though was to stain the 1×2 and dowels to match but I loved how all the wood varieties looked with the frame. I had bought a piece of matte board for the backing that matched another piece of art in the room but when I turned around the original photo that came in the frame I LOVED the textures and colors it had. I pinned the ribbon to the back of the board so that it could stay with the collection.
